Regional Institute of Education (RIE), NCERT, Ajmer currently offers six programmes/courses including the Ph.D. programme. The Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS) is also an integral part of the Institute and serves as a laboratory for carrying out research, practice teaching, experimentation and innovation in school education. Institute believes in aiding excellence to train our future teachers and constantly sets the highest standards in providing quality education. RIE, Ajmer is continuously striving to perceive and maintain academic excellence at the same time encourages the students to participate in various activities. An amiable environment at the Institute nurtures innovation, creativity and leadership qualities amongst the students for their holistic development. The progress of an Institute depends primarily on performance of the students in academics, community work, games & sports, literary and cultural activities along with maintaining high values. Our teachers are dedicated for the development of the Institute and play the role of facilitator to our students for their academics growth and holistic development. Other staff members of the Institute act as positive catalyst in achieving our vision, mission and goals. Over the years, it has been observed that nurturing innovations and bringing about qualitative change in school education and teacher preparations have been the salient feature of the Institute. Principal

Professor S.V. Sharma took over the charge of Principal on 07th April 2020 before resuming the charge of Principal, he worked as Principal (I/c) and Dean of Instructions (2019). Prof. Sharma headed the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics at this Institute during (2016-2019). Prof. Sharma has also been the coordinator of IQAC and coordinated its activities for accreditation of Institute by the NAAC (2017-2019). Prof. Sharma has 33 years of Research experience at various institutions like AMU Aligarh, IIT Kanpur, University of Allahabad, NPL New Delhi, HCST/AEC Agra and RIE, NCERT, Ajmer and published 89 research papers/articles in Journals of National/International repute in the area of Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Physics Education and Science Education. He has also published 17 books (05 books as an author, 03 as Chief Editor & 09 books as a team member) on Science/ Science Education /Physics/ Physics Education. He is Life Member of The Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) and Shaikshik Manthan (ten years). Prof. Sharma has also been the Principal Investigator in large number of research projects in the thrust areas of Physics/Physics Education/Science Education. He has organized 65 In-Service Programmes and acted as a resource person in 100 Capacity Building/ Developmental/ Training/ Orientation Programmes/ Refreshers courses for In-Service Teachers.
